How to Time Your Treatments for a Special Event

Injectable treatments and skin device protocols require time to settle and deliver their full results. Starting a treatment the week before a significant event is almost never the right approach. At GhalMédica, the consultations we have with patients ahead of weddings, milestone events, or important travel tend to begin with a timeline. Here is the one we use.

The best treatment results for a special event happen when the plan starts early enough that no one notices a specific change. They notice that you look rested, radiant, and exactly like yourself.

Sculptra and Biostimulators: 9 to 12 Months Before

Sculptra stimulates collagen production progressively. Multiple sessions are typically required, spaced approximately one month apart, and the full visible effect develops over several months. Starting this protocol 9 to 12 months before a major event ensures the results are complete, settled, and at their optimal appearance on the day.

Neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport): 6 to 12 Months Before

If you are new to neuromodulators, beginning 6 to 12 months before your event allows the physician enough time to understand your facial dynamics, adjust dosing across appointments, and arrive at a result that looks natural and settled rather than fresh. Established patients can typically begin a cycle closer to the event, with the final appointment no less than two weeks before.

Morpheus8: 5 Months Before

A standard Morpheus8 series involves three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. Collagen remodelling continues for one to two months after the final session, meaning the full result is not visible until approximately two to three months after the last treatment. Starting five months before your event gives the full protocol time to complete.

Cheek, Jawline, and Chin Filler: 6 to 8 Weeks Before

Swelling from structural filler can persist for two to four weeks. Starting six to eight weeks before the event allows time for swelling to resolve, for any adjustments to be made, and for the filler to fully integrate and soften into the tissue.

Tear Trough Filler: 4 Months Before

The under-eye area is among the most technically sensitive areas for filler placement. Swelling can appear delayed and may persist for several weeks. Four months allows adequate time for complete resolution and adjustment if needed.

Lip Filler: 2 to 3 Months Before

Swelling typically subsides within two weeks, but minor irregularities can persist for up to four weeks. Beginning two to three months before the event provides a comfortable margin for the result to settle and for any refinement to be addressed.

Skin Boosters: 6 Weeks Before

An initial series of one to two sessions, spaced four weeks apart, produces cumulative improvement in skin quality and radiance. Beginning six weeks before the event allows the second session to be completed with adequate time for the results to manifest.

Chemical Peels and Medical Facials: 6 Weeks Before

For established peel protocols, treatments can be scheduled closer to the date. For patients beginning a peel series for the first time, starting further in advance allows for skin adjustment and avoids unexpected reactions near the event.

Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I get Botox before my wedding?

If you are new to neuromodulators, begin 6 to 12 months before your wedding. This allows time to determine the right product, dose, and placement across multiple appointments. If you are an established patient, your final appointment should be no less than two weeks before the wedding.

When should I start Sculptra before my wedding?

Sculptra should be started at least 9 to 12 months before a major event. Multiple sessions are required and the full collagen effect develops over several months. Starting early ensures the result is complete and at its optimal appearance on the day.

Can I get filler close to my wedding?

Not within the final two to three weeks. Swelling can take two to four weeks to fully resolve and there is a small possibility of bruising. For cheeks, jawline, and chin start 6 to 8 weeks before. For lip filler, 2 to 3 months. For tear trough filler, at least 4 months.

What treatments can I have close to my wedding?

Established treatments you have had before with predictable responses are generally safe closer to the event, including Bela MD facials, SkinCeuticals facials, and chemical peels you have already done. New treatments or new protocols should not be attempted close to a significant event as skin responses can be unpredictable.

Timelines provided are general guidelines and may vary based on individual anatomy, skin condition, and treatment history. A physician consultation is required before any treatment is initiated. Results may vary. Les résultats peuvent varier. Une évaluation médicale individuelle est requise.
